Capacitive control for indoor and outdoor use

Since our capacitive touch probe is based on a permanent capacitance measurement and evaluation, it can also be used as a proximity sensor and programmed with any functions. For example, LED illumination is possible on approach, as is a distinguishable activation on contact. This is made possible by sensitivity settings in the software and by the sensor’s ability to sense through various materials – for example, through 4mm thick plastic, through 6mm glass or through work gloves that are often used in industrial applications. Our system is extremely wear-resistant, scratch-resistant, dust-tight and resistant to common cleaning agents, oil, moisture and liquids ( protection class IP65 and higher possible) due to the system design behind a protective front panel. Our sensor technology can also be of great benefit in areas where high temperature resistance is required or where hygiene, disinfection and frequent cleaning play a major role.

This robust design is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications that are not irritated by water droplets or moisture or ice deposits. In particular, our capacitive pushbutton can be used for industrial applications. These can range from the control of power tools or coffee machines to the operation of locking systems and gates in outdoor and indoor areas. The use of individual front panels also makes applications with special surfaces, such as integrated Braille, possible.

Touch system solutions from PDS

Our system solutions with individual capacitive switches are based on a sensor solution directly on the PCB. Here, a single (or several) capacitive switches are applied directly to a printed circuit board. This robust design now makes it possible to build a touch system with any front panel on it. This enables both homogeneously backlit solutions in LED technology with customer-specific colors as well as solutions with any number of switches and displays as an integration solution in customer-specific designs. This means that our product range of mechanical switches (which always require openings through closed surfaces) is optimally complemented by this protected sensor technology, as combination solutions of both technologies are also possible.
